Wildlife
When we talk about wildlife, there really are three categories of wildlife that should be considered. Firstly, "wildlife" meaning animals/birds/insects etc.
Strictly speaking, pure wildlife is that of the subject in its natural environment. The subject fends for itself, survives on its own and should be left alone except to be observed by humans. Then, we have wildlife which is in an environment set up by humans. The subject may not actually fend for itself, and is under the care of people, relying on people for daily sustenance. The environment is still relatively natural not so restrictive as the last category. Then we have what we might refer to as a zoo, or a cage environment, where the subject is in as natural an environment as possible, but still restricted. This is not to say that this is a bad thing, because perhaps these animals are injured or otherwise could not fend for themselves, and should serve as a teaching/learning experience for people. These pages have photos from all these environments. There is an explanation of where the photo was taken attached to each. "Wildlife" is something that we often marvel at when we encounter it unexpectedly, or maybe even curse at when is is an annoyance. We usually don't understand the struggles that these species are going through and I would maintain that we should learn as much about it as we can. These are living creatures, and they should not be taken for granted. Enjoy: |
